INNSBRUCK – Austria will introduce nighttime driving bans for truck traffic on the A12 Inntal Autobahn and A13 Brenner Autobahn on several dates in October 2026. The restrictions apply, among others, to trucks and tractor-semitrailer combinations with a maximum permitted weight exceeding 3.5 tonnes.
The driving bans apply to journeys where the destination is reached via the section of the A13 between the Nößlach and Brenner Nord junctions.
The restrictions will apply during the nights from 12 to 16 October and from 19 to 23 October 2026. Each restriction will remain in force until 05:00 the following morning.
Driving bans on A12 and A13
On the A12 Inntal Autobahn, trucks and tractor-semitrailer combinations with a maximum permitted weight exceeding 3.5 tonnes are prohibited from driving in both directions between 21:00 and 05:00.
The same restriction applies to trucks with trailers where the combined maximum permitted weight exceeds 3.5 tonnes.
On the A13 Brenner Autobahn southbound, the driving ban also applies from 21:00 until 05:00.
For truck traffic travelling northbound on the A13 towards Innsbruck, the restriction starts one hour later and applies from 22:00 until 05:00.
Additional restriction between Matrei-Steinach and Brenner Nord
An additional restriction applies on the A13 section between Matrei-Steinach and Brenner Nord.
On this section, all vehicles with a maximum permitted weight exceeding 3.5 tonnes are prohibited from driving in both directions between 22:00 and 05:00.
This restriction also applies during the nights from 12 to 16 October and from 19 to 23 October, subject to the same condition regarding destinations reached via the A13 section between Nößlach and Brenner Nord.
International truck drivers and transport companies operating through Tyrol and along the Brenner route during these periods should take the nighttime restrictions into account when planning their journeys.
