From Oktoberfest to Cannstatter Wasen: eActros 600 delivers the beer

STUTTGART/MUNICH – Daimler Truck has deployed a Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 to supply Germany’s two largest folk festivals. The battery-electric truck first delivered beer to Oktoberfest in Munich before continuing to Stuttgart to supply the Cannstatter Wasen.

With the special tour through southern Germany, Daimler Truck is also marking 130 years of truck history. Gottlieb Daimler built the first truck in 1896, with breweries among the earliest customers for the new means of freight transport.

Mercedes-Benz Trucks is using the tour to highlight this historical connection between trucks and breweries while linking it to the current transformation towards battery-electric road freight transport.

Beer delivery to Oktoberfest

In Munich, freight carrier Lettl used the eActros 600 to deliver beer to one of the festival tents at Oktoberfest.

The electric truck then continued to Stuttgart, where freight carrier Torwesten deployed the eActros 600 to supply beer to the Cannstatter Wasen.

According to Daimler Truck, the tour also highlights the important role trucks play in major events. Behind the scenes, setup and dismantling, catering, technical infrastructure, supply logistics and waste management all have to be precisely coordinated.

eActros

Dirndl and lederhosen

For its special festival tour, the eActros 600 was given a distinctive design inspired by traditional Bavarian clothing.

One side of the truck is designed to resemble embroidered lederhosen, complete with suspenders, while the other side features a traditional dirndl with an apron, bow and lace details. Floral embroidery and traditional patterns complete the design.

eActros

More than 600 kWh battery capacity

Series production of the Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 began at the Wörth plant at the end of 2024. The battery-electric long-haul truck is now in daily operation in several countries both within and outside Europe.

The eActros 600 is equipped with three battery packs of 207 kWh each, providing a total installed capacity of 621 kWh. The batteries use lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cell technology.

According to Mercedes-Benz Trucks, the vehicle can achieve a range of around 500 kilometres without intermediate charging under specified conditions. In its most economical configuration, the eActros 600 can achieve a range of up to approximately 560 kilometres in conventional long-haul operation at a gross combination weight of 40 tonnes. Actual range depends on factors including topography, weather conditions, speed and driving style.

eActros

Up to 44 tonnes gross combination weight

The eActros 600 is technically designed for a gross combination weight of up to 44 tonnes. With a standard semitrailer, the truck offers a payload of around 22 tonnes in the European Union. National legislation may allow higher payloads in certain cases.

Mercedes-Benz Trucks designed the vehicle for up to 1.2 million kilometres over ten years of operation. After this period, the battery state of health is expected to remain above 80 percent, according to the manufacturer.

In addition to CCS charging, the eActros 600 will support the Megawatt Charging System (MCS) in the future. This functionality is scheduled to become available during the second half of 2027. With charging capacities of up to 1,000 kW, charging times of less than 30 minutes should be possible under suitable conditions.

The eActros 600 was previously named International Truck of the Year 2025 by the International Truck of the Year jury, which consists of 24 commercial vehicle journalists from across Europe.
